Jardin du Luxembourg

We had a wonderful day today in spite of the intense heat! We found a nice shaddy area to take a break in the jardin and watched young boys sail model-boats in the Medici Fountain. The avenues of chestnut trees are punctuated by astonishing series of sculptures. It's a very romantic park. Too bad Caleb has not arrived!

Aaron spent the morning sketching the area.

We gathered a fabulous array of picnic food for our evening at the Eiffel Tower. Yummy! It was a gorgeous evening and we think this is they way to go in expensive Paris!

We also got to see the Ghana - US football game. It wasn't very popular to be an American here, but we found a spot with others cheering our team on. It's a free big screen park that looks out over the Eiffel Tower. You'd rather not hear what the people ran through the streets saying after the US lost. Rather than lifting Ghana on a pedestal, they put down the US. We pretended we were from Canada. :)

Every evening at the hour of 10, 11, 12, 1 the Eiffel tower sparkles like diamonds for 10 minutes. This is a picture before it started.

We arrived back to our street with great chaos and crowds. Fun!

The scene as we left our picnic spot! Au revoir!
